CF1 - computer forensic Core Service - Our staple service - Finding, preserving, extracting, analyzing, and presenting evidence from computer media, including expert testimony when needed. CF2 - Electronic Discovery - Performed for law firms and related entities, we manage electronic discovery production from start to finish. We work with you to develop the most effective language in discovery requests, then manage this information as it comes in, using specialized tools to catalog, analyze, and present the case evidence. If the evidence warrants, we may recommend elevating certain elements of the discovery process to a forensic-grade action.
CF3 - Travel Time - When traveling outside the metro area of the attending Evidence Technology office, travel time is billed at 50% of the core rate for the service being performed.
CF4 - Machine Time - Some cases require extended periods of unattended computer time. Depending on the size of the hard drives involved in a case, these procedures can take many hours, or in some cases, days, to run. Many examiners charge the same hourly rate for this time, but we have elected to separate this element out for a less expensive "machine only" billing rate when practical.
Why Use Forensic
Examiners?
A forensic
examination is far more than a simple search of a hard drive, and it's highly
unlikely that someone not trained in digital forensics will even be able to find
all the evidence. Even if they do, it could easily be rendered inadmissible.
Until now, digital evidence has gotten somewhat of a free ride in the courts, because there were so few experts who could credibly challenge it. That era is over.
Digital evidence is now frequently challenged. Trained forensic experts gather and present evidence in a fashion to maximize judicial durability.
